Wernert Lawn Care

The story behind

In 2008, Steve Wernert started Wernert Lawn Care as a side job out of his parents’ garage. When the business first started, Wernert Lawn Care offered lawn mowing and a wide variety of landscaping services. During the off-season, commercial snow and ice removal services were offered.

In 2014, Wernert Lawn Care started offering fertilization services. In spring of 2021 Wernert Lawn Care got out of the lawn maintenance service industry and focused on fertilization and weed control services along with commercial snow and ice removal.

In the spring of 2022, Wernert Lawn Care expended again offering excavating services.

Today in 2025, the company is composed of seven full-time employees and offers a variety of services including new yard/driveway installations, bulk material delivery, grading, drain/downspout installation, camera inspections, lawn insecticide applications, aeration and more!

Steve Wernert, owner of Wernert Lawn Care

Steve was born and raised in Pickerington and is a 2006 graduate from Pickerington North High School. After high school, Steve worked part-time running his lawn business while also going to fire school and then onto EMT school. He eventually became a full-time firefighter/paramedic at Violet Township Fire Department where he currently works.

Steve’s goal was initially to have a part-time business and be full-time firefighter; however, the business had bigger plans for him. His passion, hard work, dedication and noble reputation led to expanding services and hiring several employees. Steve got his fertilizer license in 2014 as a growing opportunity for the business.

Steve works his full-time firefighter/paramedic job while managing Wernert Lawn Care. You’ll see him out in the yards on his “off” days. In his free time (when he has some) he enjoys spending time with his fiancé and son, playing frisbee with his German Shepard and going boating.
